For a long time there has been a splash as we pass
one of the small ponds but until today I have never
been able to see who made it. This afternoon, however,
I spotted him having a cool nap on the side of the pond,
and here he is:
The Red Mason Bees which we got from C J Wildbird Foods arrived as cocoons in a tube like a Smartie tube. Yesterday I had an email from them telling me to remove the stickers over the stopper and in the lower picture you can see where the bees have begun to chew their way out. The upper picture is a video of what I saw this morning! There are still some bees left inside, waving their antennae thoughtfully if vaguely.
